“Great place to stay...Don't pass up” Reviewed December 11, 2011

Stayed in the Sweet Shop, had a front porch with chairs, spacious room with frig and microwave. Made our mini Thanksgiving vacation a wonderful dream. About 6 min. from Ft Bragg and Mendocino village right across the highway. The staff came by every morning with a basket of fresh fruit, muffins and banana bread. Coffee, hot chocolate and popcorn also included. Room was immaculate with beautiful wall paper and pictures. Maid service excellent. Could not ask for a better staff Melissa and Lou are helpful and wonderful in managing the Inn. Barry and Kathy also made the stay enjoyable.

A wonderful place to stay - best one of the holiday!” November 6, 2011

We stayed in the Livery Stable at the Blackberry Inn on a recent roadtrip around California (our first proper visit to this state) and it was our favourite of the whole trip. The room was lovely - tastefully decorated and furnished, spotlessly clean, bright and airy, big comfy bed, squishy sofa thoughtfully positioned looking out through the tall arched window with views of the Pacific Ocean between the trees, wood burning stove laid ready to be lit (it was beautifully warm while we were there so we didn't need it but I'll bet it's a lovely feature on chilly nights). Delicious muffins and cereal bars and treats on the pillows each day. Excellent WiFi connection. Good sized fridge and microwave oven. Good quality complimentary toiletries in the spotless bathroom. The owners are very friendly and helpful, and their lovely dog Bobby is a star - we wanted to take him home with us! We really would like to have stayed more than two nights but our roadtrip schedule didn't allow for longer. Would also have liked to have seen more of Mendocino which is a very quaint and interesting town with some lovely old buildings. If we ever manage to get back to this area, we would certainly stay here again.

“the neatest place on the Coast!” 5 of 5 stars Reviewed July 23, 2011

just want to add that I lived in Mendocino for years so I know every inn and guesthouse and believe me, there's no other place anywhere like this one. It begins the instant you turn into the drive and are at once transported to a magical little, storybook of a western street, complete with post office and even the local lock-up. The Stay couldn't be nicer and the rooms more adorable... and they charge less for all this than other places that don't offer more than your everyday Holiday Inn.
They say the best recommendations come from the natives so I tell everyone I know and they always call to thank me... and while I've moved away, when I go back I know where I stay!

Pampering, with Spa Quality Amenities…

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 5 of 5 stars

We feel so pampered each time we stay at The Blackberry Inn. The first thing noticed is the attention to detail. Fresh cut flowers, fluffy, bright white towels, spa quality soaps and lotions, and art adorning the walls. The beds are extremely comfortable and cozy. Watching the fire while we drift off to sleep with the calming sound of the ocean is priceless. In the morning, the yummy basket of goodies sitting on our table is quite welcomed, as is the coffee brewing in our pot.

The large, oval bathtub is very inviting after a day on the beach and walking through the redwood forests. We have our favorite room, however the wonderful managers, are always thrilled and proud to show all the other rooms when they are unoccupied.

The gardens and architecture of The Blackberry Inn are truly unique. Thankfully, there is an outdoor sitting area in the midst of it all for quiet reflection, a cup of coffee, a glass of wine, or some peaceful reading. We look forward to our next visit.

Beautiful Countryside and Ocean from our Window…

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 5 of 5 stars

We were absolutely delighted with our stay at the Blackberry Inn. The room was large and well equipped. We looked out our large, back windows to see beautiful countryside and the ocean. The managers and owner were so welcoming and helpful; they were totally committed to making our stay the best it could be. The beds were the most comfortable I've ever slept on in a hotel or inn. The 'Old West' building facades were adorable and added to the experience and the homemade baked goods were heavenly. We highly recommend the Blackberry Inn.

Positive Reviews and Dog Friendly…

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 5 of 5 stars

We booked the Blackberry Inn for one night to celebrate our 45th anniversary. Our choice was based on the very positive reviews - and also because they have rooms designated as dog friendly. As soon as we checked in, we really liked the place - and they had provided us with a bottle of wine to celebrate, as we had requested. So we immediately asked for a second night, which they gladly arranged - with a second bottle of wine! The room was immaculate; all the amenities were provided, including chocolate kisses on the pillows!

A Romantic Sanctuary…

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 5 of 5 stars

Blackberry Inn is where my boyfriend and I took refuge before and after camping at the three day Sierra Nevada World Music Festival nearby. The Innkeeper is very warm and hospitable. It truly is a romantic sanctuary.

Ocean View from the Bathtub…

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 5 of 5 stars

We came up to Mendocino for a romantic getaway. We cannot be more pleased with our stay at the Blackberry Inn. We stayed in the Sheriff’s room and it was fabulous. We had a beautiful ocean view from our bathtub, sliding doors and a great fire burning in the fireplace.

Very Cute and Good Value…

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 4 of 5 stars

The Blackberry Inn is very cute and a good value. The complex is set up as an old Western town. When the fog lifted we even had a view of the ocean! My friend went for an early morning walk and saw wild turkeys and a small herd of deer.

Helpful and Willing Staff…

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 5 of 5 stars

We stayed in the honeymoon suite, Belle's Place. I was a little afraid that the theme would cross the line into tacky/cheesy, but was pleasantly surprised when we checked in. I really appreciated their willingness to help when we woke up the next day with a flat tire. Not only did they allow us to use their phone, but they let us back into our room after check out to wait for the tow truck. They made what could have been an awful morning into a minor inconvenience. The staff was great, the hotel is clean and quiet, the grounds are beautiful, and the price can't be beat in that area. I highly recommend staying here.

Peace and Quiet…

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 5 of 5 stars

My husband and I were married at Blackberry Inn in 1996. We try and go as often as we can, and often buy gift certificates as presents for family members. We like Blackberry Inn because with two small children we like nothing but peace and quiet when we do have the opportunity to get away.

Friendly to Families with Young Children…

TripAdvisor traveler rating: 5 of 5 stars

Our family (2 adults and 2 young children) traveled up the Northern California coast and wanted to visit Mendocino. A lot of the hotels and bed and breakfasts in Mendocino are not friendly to families with young children, or are very expensive, with high charges for rollaway beds and/or small rooms. We saw the Blackberry Inn advertised in the AAA book, then checked their website. We stayed in a large room with a King bed. The hotel staff was very courteous and helpful. The rollaway beds were only $5 each for the entire stay. The room was very clean. Surrounding the Inn were grassy areas that our kids enjoyed running around in. We highly recommend the Blackberry Inn and would stay there again.
